That mixture of sympathy, disliking, pity, concern, revulsion, and wounded pride (which surfaces as suspicion under pressure) is just SO INTRIGUING and then her eyes are opened to not just what Hiccup is NOT (a Viking of their 300-year tradition) to everything Hiccup IS (still a Viking but like none anyone’s ever known) and while it could have been done a bit less conventionally WRT the “Romantic Flight,” HER CHARACTER ARC REMAINS REALLY GREAT WRITING

In general, give me characters with STRONG BUT AMBIVALENT feelings about other characters and then let them try to sort out those feelings in a healthy way and I’m ALL OVER IT.
